Colleen Bonniol

Owner - CEO

Since 1997, Colleen Bonniol has been the owner, CEO and executive producer for MODE Studios, a Women's Business National Enterprise Council (WBENC) Certified business. Responsible for managing growth and consistently driving innovation to new heights, Colleen has been instrumental in the Seattle-based company's rise as a preeminent force in media and interactive design. Over the past several years, in tandem with her partner Bob Bonniol, MODE has rendered top-tier applications that span the global architectural, entertainment and marketing industries. Today, the company's client list includes many of the world’s leading corporations, architecture firms, and entertainment networks… and recording artists too numerous to count.

A passionate business leader and artist known for mentoring other woman business owners and volunteering for youth organizations, Colleen's ability to simultaneously manage the big picture and the granular details stands behind an ever-expanding body of work that is the DNA of hybrid experiences.

The creator of the curriculum and co-chair for the Video for Live Performance MFA program at California Institute of the Arts, Colleen also created and guided the Projection Design Master Classes for Live Design at the LDI convention, building those sessions into a reliable draw while sharing her knowledge with thousands of participants year after year.

Colleen's far-reaching experiences in music, theater and cinema earned her the honor of Projection Designer of the Year in 2003, recognizing her pioneering feats that included literally inventing the technique of projection mapping on tour with Godspell... along with her cutting edge designs for Parsifal at Seattle Opera and Sinata Live at the London Palladium. Earlier career highlights include becoming one of the first women to serve as a Best Boy and Gaffer on major Hollywood productions (credits include Assassins, Free Willy, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Northern Exposure, Sleepless in Seattle, and Twin Peaks), serving as Chief Lighting Technician at the prestigious Trinity Reportory in Providence, Rhode Island, and landing herself on tour with Bruce Springsteen and U2, after earning an internship with master production designer Jeff Ravitz.

Colleen began her studies in Theater at Rollins College and completed her B.A in Theater at Penn State University. She also completed Seth Godin's altMBA program in 2018.
